Barney is a purebred basset hound that needed to find a new home because of food aggression with other dogs in his household. His owners realized what a daunting process it would be to try and find a home for Barney by themselves. Considering this issue and without the resources to properly screen applicants, NSC was just what they were looking for. With some structured training, Barney became a candidate for any home, and he found his shortly after Christmas with the Kimberlin family. He is now out of trouble and in an environment where he can blossom as the silly boy he was meant to be. |

Hercules is a purebred German Shepherd that was deliberately left at animal control because the owner no longer wanted him. He had terrible separation issues initially, and had to be medicated in order to control his behavior. After a few weeks in the NSC program, it turns out all Hercules needed was some structure in his life. He was weaned off the medication, and went from a frantic and sometimes berserk animal to a calm and loving companion dog. He was adopted by the Andrea Palten, and has completely changed into a wonderful (and adored) family pet. |

Hope is a two year old mix that was a transfer from a high kill shelter in Wyoming. Hope spent months living as a wild stray before she was captured - and initially her near feral behavior was not unexpected considering her history. With weeks spent learning how to interact with people, Hope finally started to develop a bond with her two-legged caretakers. A very special family was needed for Hope, one that would recognize her strengths and work with her issues long term. Jon & Christy were just such a family, and the day Hope went home you could see in her eyes she was ready to take that next step and become a beloved pet. |

Robbie came an incredibly long way from when NSC first received this dog. In the beginning, Robbie would bite people, was very depressed, and was not considered a good candidate for an inexperienced home. The NSC crew worked with him tirelessly until Robbie eventually came to terms with his destiny and began to warm up to people. There was one person in particular he was attached to, Inge - the very first NSC alum, was won over by his new demeanor and loving personality. Inge fostered Robbie off and on for several months, and decided she was too devoted to this dog to let him go. In January, they made it official. |

Tess came to NSC as a death row dog from another shelter. Her new owners, Shannon and Ben had recently moved into a new home and had just started considering getting a canine. Hearing about a stray that had been picked up, they decided they would be willing to foster an NSC dog. However, this particular dog very happily found his family before they had a chance to meet. Having decided they were ready to foster anyway, they took a look at the dogs on this website and thought perhaps they had room for Tess. This foxhound won them over in only a few short days after which they decided to make it permanent. From the moment Tess met her new parents, she acted like she had finally been found by her forever family. It was as if she knew the three of them were meant to be together - and it only took her people slightly longer to realize the same. |

Tucker was a shiba inu that had made his way through two other shelter programs before winding up with NSC. He had a behavioral problem that his previous owners were unwilling to work on. With in-depth behavioral modification from Laurie and Gina - Tucker was ready for the right family. Initially he was to be a foster dog for Kari and Jeff, but with his cute personality (and shiny new manners) they decided they couldn't give him up. Fate seemed to bring these three together and with a little hard work they plan on making it forever. |

Duke had become too much for his original owners when he started to grow into his full great-dane size. The Molloy's had always wanted a great dane, and when the call came in, Jimmy was the first person Georgia spoke with. After deciding that the dog would be a perfect addition to the family, Duke became an early Christmas gift for the two kids. As this family's first dog, NSC was a great way to start the ownership process with training, information and structured care from the get-go. Duke adds a very special part to this great family. |

Jesse is a yellow lab mix that had been abandoned with her puppies. After two months of roaming the hills, only one puppy was left alive. Jesse and her pup were rescued when a nice neighbor took her in during the large October snowstorm. She immediately contacted NSC and the dogs were picked up the next day. After hearing Jesse's story, Chris Baker decided she sounded like just the dog for their family. Jesse joins three kids and a cat in her new home, and the Baker's couldn't be happier with their new four legged family member. |

Buddy was a very special dog in the NSC program. After six years of living with an owner with Alzheimer's, Buddy had developed some difficult anxiety and behavioral problems (similar to those suffered by his owner.) Buddy was released to NSC when it appeared that his care was too much for the owner to handle. Buddy was adopted by a very kind woman named Suzannah who had recently lost her beloved border collie to cancer. While Buddy may never completely get over his traumatic start, living with Suzannah has really opened this dog up and they are working at making their home a great one! |

Bachelor (formerly known as Harlan) has been adopted and has finished his training to become the Ritz Carlton "Bachelor" mascot. He acts as the ambassador for the Ritz Carlton resort - welcoming guests and playing the pampered pooch. Bachelor started as a stray found on the fourth of July - skinny and scared to death of the fireworks. He completed several months of integration training before making the transition from shelter life to high life. If you are ever in Beaver Creek - please stop by to see what an amazing dog this fellow has become. To see Bachelor's clip that ran on CNN and 9News - please click here. |

Hudson was a shelter transfer from Clear Creek County. Little was known about his past except that he had been adopted out once and was returned because the owner didn't have the patience for his goofiness. He wound up at Clear Creek Animal Control when he was scheduled to be destroyed at the first shelter. NSC got involved because Clear Creek could tell there was a great dog underneath his 80lbs of exuberance - but no one wanted a giant, out-of-control German Shepherd. After he was relinquished to us it took a few weeks before he was available - however when that time came the Herman family fell in love. We can happily report that with our training program - Hudson was able to find (and stay) in the home he so richly deserved. |

Nike was adopted by Justin Sweeney. We are pleased to report that Nike is bonding extremely well with his new dad. Nike came to us as a young mixed breed that had been abandoned in the yard when his original family moved. When NSC picked up Nike he was extremely skinny, dehydrated and had very few manners or people skills. After several months of intensive training we began looking for that special forever home for Nike. |
